The Stag was originally delivered in Belgium to the oil company GIP, where the car served as an executive vehicle. As early as 1976, the Stag was purchased by a Belgian couple who kept ownership of the car until 2020. This couple had the car restored in the mid-1990s for an awful lot of money by a very skilled Belgian restoration company Marreyt Classic Cars (see: www.marreyt.com). All invoices are available for inspection. Naturally, the car was built with original Triumph parts and in the original color scheme (Pimento, black interior and black striping). After completion of the restoration, the car has always been in the garage, but has rarely been driven.
In 2020, the car moved to the Netherlands and was made ready to hit the road again. The technology needed attention because of the long idle time and the Stag got that. Among other things, the brakes were addressed (brake lines, brake hoses and the master cylinder), the driveshaft was restarted, the steering rack (including the power steering) was overhauled and the differential was fitted with new gaskets. In 2024/2025, the engine was completely overhauled by TopGear in Lith, the Stag engine specialist. This recent engine overhaul cost over €15,000.00. In total, since 2020, about € 25,000.00 of the Stag has been invested to bring the car to its current condition. In 2023, the underside of the car was blasted in detail with dry ice, removing the existing tectyl, where necessary the underside was repainted in color and then provided with a protective rust-preventing coating. The underside of the car is truly a picture. The hollow spaces were coated with very high-quality rust prevention grease from Mike Sander, which is processed at boiling temperature. In this way, the liquid transparent grease creeps in everywhere, providing the best rust prevention. Naturally, the Stag is equipped with a restored hardtop that is in perfect condition. In addition, the Stag has a renewed soft top, which is also in good condition. This is truly one of the finest Stags on the market. The restoration of a Stag like this one quickly costs more than € 60,000.00-80,000.00.
