Morgan 4/4 1957
What a rarity drove into our showroom today. A 1957 Morgan 4/4. Only 386 were built between 1957 and 1960. 4/4 literally means 4 wheels and 4 cylinders (after the three-wheeled Morgan’s, this was the company’s first four-wheeled production car). This fully matching numbers car was purchased by the Dutch owner in 2018. He has completely restored it to the best available specifications in recent years. The car is completely rebuilt, the woodwork, chassis, paintwork, suspension and the rest, everything is like new. The 1172cc Ford 100E engine was completely overhauled at a Dutch company. The 3 speed Ford gearbox is also completely overhauled. The engine produces 36 hp. With the car’s low weight, this Morgan was a real sports car in the 50s. The interior is beautifully done in brown leather, the best you can find, even the hood strap is handmade from the best leather. The side windows and soft top are both done in the best mohair available. Side windows and hood are packed in specially made bags that fit in the luggage compartment in the “trunk.” The car sits on beautiful wire wheels that perfectly match the green paint job. Along with the car come the original typed letters from Peter Morgan himself to the former owner, dated 1962,64 and 65. It can’t get any better than this. The restoration of this beauty has just finished, so everything is in perfect condition. The man who made this car could not have made it at this price, that’s for sure. Who is the lucky new owner?
